Grunt's aligment tools allow you to align all types of objects relative to a reference object.
PowerPoint has a built-in set of alignment tools, which works fine in many situations. However, the tools are buried deep in menus and do not give the user the type of granular control of the operation that many professional users want. With Grunt's alignment tools, you can customize the baseline for your alignment and align multiple objects on a slide without grouping.
Grunt's alignment tools align to a reference object, which is not moved during the alignment. Our alignment tools also work for all objects, such as graphics, shapes, text boxes, pictures, and Grunt objects. Follow these steps to get started:
- Select all the objects you want to align, including the object you wish to align them to.
- Set your reference object (Smart Selection must be toggled on). In your selection, a pink dot indicates the reference object. Click another object in the selection to change the reference object.
Note:
By default, the first object you select will be set as a reference object, or the top left if you drag-select. The reference object cannot be changed if Smart Selection is off. - Choose one of the following to align the selected objects:
- Align Left: Aligns objects along their left edges to the left edge of the reference object
- Align Center: Aligns objects vertically through the center of the reference object
- Align Right: Aligns objects along their right edge to the right edge of the reference object
- Align Top: Aligns objects along their top edge to the top edge of the reference object
- Align Middle: Aligns objects horizontally through the center of the reference object
- Align Bottom: Aligns objects along their bottom edge to the bottom edge of the reference object
Align multiple objects to slide
The slide itself can also serve as the reference object. To do this, select some objects and hold Ctrl
while clicking any Align object button. This will align the selected objects as a group relative to the slide - without having to perform a grouping operation.
If you select only a single or a grouped object, Grunt will align to the slide if you press any alignment function.
